Special guest visits Quincy Run!

Former Mayor of Edmonston and current Director of Prince George's County Department of the Environment Adam Ortiz chose Quincy Run for his monthly stream visit. Entering the stream at its confluence with the Anacostia River, Adam and his guide hiked 3.8 miles through the stream,

riparian areas, and stormwater pond reaching 53rd Ave. Along with a pair of coveted FQRW "golden Gloves", Adam picked up a walking stick (carved by one of our local artisans) which he quickly used to extract a dead snake from the stream bottom. He also caught sight of numerous fish (one measuring over 6"), polywogs, and evidence of other wild life known to live in Bladensburg Neighborhood Park.

Up at street level, Adam and his guide headed east along route 450 and 202 - the ridge road which forms the northern border of the watershed. Adam called his visit the best meeting of the week. (Guess the boy doesn't get out much!) FQRW are grateful to Adam for taking time to experience first hand the challenges of restoring this watershed to health and for offering encouragement.
